Overview

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s oldest and most frequently visited national parks. Situated in the western region of the country, it is nestled within the dramatic landscapes of the East African Rift Valley. The park is home to a rich variety of ecosystems including tropical semi-deciduous forests, savannah grasslands, wetlands, crater lakes, and meadows mainly located in the Kasese District.

This biodiverse haven hosts over 95 mammal species, including the iconic four of the “Big Five” such as tree-climbing lions, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and Uganda kobs. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the presence of over 400 species of birds, particularly water birds. Nicknamed the “Medley of Wonders,” Queen Elizabeth National Park offers not just wildlife but also cultural heritage. Bird enthusiasts may spot hornbills, lapwings, eagles, and many more species.

Return to the lodge for a buffet lunch before heading out in the afternoon for a scenic boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.
